Participation in educational courses of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS)
17 August 2016
Regular educational courses of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) were held in Varna, Bulgaria on May 19-21. Every neurosurgeon is familiar with the work of this organization. Here you can read more about the activities of the WFNS.

Usually, the program of such courses includes a series of lectures on topical issues of the neurosurgery. Courses were held in Varna, the second largest city in Bulgaria after Sofia. The locals call their city the marine capital of Bulgaria. The number of participants amounted to 120 people. There were neurosurgeons mainly from Eastern and southern Europe and the Baltic States, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia.

The lectors of the courses were two neurosurgeons from Russia: Dr. Alexander Kim (head of Children's Department of the Institute of neurosurgery named after Polenov, Saint-Petersburg) and Dr. Jamil Rzaev (chief doctor of the Federal Neurosurgical Center, Novosibirsk). All course participants – students and teachers – were surrounded by an atmosphere of hospitality and warmth. An important fact is that during these courses there is enough time for discussion both during the sessions and outside the program during the breaks, excursions and other events.

In the near future co-chairs of the Educational Committee of the WFNS Professor Bertalaffy and Di Rocco (both International Institute of Neurosciences, Hannover, Germany), and honorable President of the WFNS Professor Chouix (Marseille,France) will visit the Federal Neurosurgical Center of Novosibirsk. Among others, issues of carrying WFNS educational courses in Novosibirsk will be discussed in 2017.
