Master-class "Power equipment in neurosurgical practice".

The aim of surgery is to perform the most radical intervention with minimal trauma. Modern technologies allow fulfilling this condition. Motor systems have become an integral part of the "munition" of the neurosurgeon. With their help there is an ability to access neurovascular structures by minimal resection of bone formation, in some cases, allowing you working through a eyelet ("keyhole"). Testing of manual skills of the surgeon is an essential part of the profession. The course consisted of lectures, including acquaintance with motor systems, historical data, usage of motor systems in surgical practice. Testing of manual skills was carried out on the biopharmaceutical, simulating the main stages of accesses to the spinal canal, brain, using a wide variety of motor systems attachments available at the moment. Particular attention was paid to safety of the high-speed drilling of the anatomical structures, which is a basic rule in the neurosurgical practice. The work was carried out with microscope, allowing to test skills of microsurgical technique. At the end of the course, participants have demonstrated the skills acquired by the precision removal of the shell of a raw egg with diamond drill.
