The IIIrd Students Neurosurgical Academic Competition “SibNeuro”
Dear colleagues!
Herewith we announce the opening of registration procedure for the medical students and also for interns of the 1st academic year to the IIIrd Students Neurosurgical Academic Competition.
Starting from 2021 we widen the program of the event. This year we organized a hands-on course that would be held on December 09, 2021. The number of participants is restricted – 10 students for hands-on course and 10 students as observers.
Competitive part will be held on December 10-11, 2021 and will consist of 2 parts: theory and practice.
ATTENTION!
Applications for competitive part (December 10-11, 2021) are accepted till November 28, 2021.
Registration for hands-on course is opened till November 30, 2021.

In 2021 we will widen the event program. This year we are going to organize a hands-on course in the framework of the Competition that will be held on December 09, 2021. The number of participants is limited: only 10 students will be allowed for participation in the practical part of the hands-on course and 10 students as audience.

PROCEDURES OF THE III STUDENTS NEUROSURGICAL ACADEMIC COMPETITION “SIBNEURO”
Dates: December 10-11, 2021
The program of the Competition consists of 6 contests grouped into 3 stages.
December 10, 2021:
I stage. Qualification
1. “Theory” contest
The students were offered to answer 100 theoretical questions in Russian and English. According to the results of theoretical contest top-20 participants passed into the 2nd round of qualification – “Microvascular anastomosis I”.
2. “Microvascular anastomosis I”
Participants had to put anastomosis “end-to-side” type on chicken thighs models. According to the results of 2 contests top-10 participants were qualified for the II stage – “Practical part”.
December 11, 2021:
II stage. “Practical part”
All the scores gained in the qualification were annulled before the start of this stage.
1. “Microvascular anastomosis II”
A clinical case was offered for the participants and to put a microvascular anastomosis on the chicken wings models with imitation of the depth on end-to-end, end-to-side or side-to-side types with explanations.
2. “Craniotomy”
Participants had to deal with clinical case and to perform craniotomy on 3D skull model explaining their choice.
3. “Transnasal surgery”
Participants were offered to perform pituitary adenoma removal using endoscopic instruments and devices (boiled egg model fixed in the area of sella fossa of a 3D skull model. According to the results of the 3 practical contests were qualified for the final stage.
III stage. Final
1. “Microsurgical aneurysm clipping”
Participants were offered to perform pterional craniotomy, arachnoidal dissection and microsurgical aneurysm clipping on 3D skull model with brain and vessels imitation.
Summing up
All the participants will receive their Certificates.
The winners of each contest will receive diplomas.
The points gained by the participants of the II and the III stages will be summarized; the final rating will be formed according to these results. The winners of the I, II and III places will be awarded with prizes from “SibNeuro” and the partners of the event.
