Results of the Siberian Neurosurgical Congress.

The 1st Siberian Neurosurgical Congress took place in Novosibirsk on July 14-16, 2016.

There were 234 specialists from 27 cities of Russia (Abakan, Barnaul, Biysk, Belgorod, Blagoveschensk, Vladivostok, Gorno-Altaysk, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Leninsk-Kuznetskiy, Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Novokuznetsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Petrozavodsk, St.-Petersburg, Surgut, Tomsk, Tula, Tyumen, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Chita). There were also representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tadzhikistan.

Workshops on skull base surgery, microvascular anastomosis and endovascular neurosurgery were held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center on July 14. About 60 specialists took part in these workshops.

Scientific program started on July 15 and lasted till July 16. There were 164 reports presented during 2 days of 4 plenary and 11 breakout sessions. Lecturers from the USA, Japan, Italy and Latvia presented their reports on plenary sessions.

Exhibition of manufacturers and distributors of medical equipment, expendables, medications and diagnostic equipment was held simultaneously with scientific program. 27 companies took part in the exhibition.

One of the most important events of the Siberian Neurosurgical Congress was a private meeting of chief neurosurgeons of the Siberian Federal District where representatives of all 12 regions headed by the Chief Neurosurgeon of Russia, Academician Vladimir V.Krylov and Chief Neurosurgeon of the Siberian Federal District had discussed working results of 2015 and charted future tasks on development of neurosurgical service in regions.

There was a Competition of young neurosurgeons that was held in the framework of the Congress. 26 reports of young neurosurgeons from different cities of Russia took part in the Competition. The following young specialists became the winners:

  • The 1st place: Pavel A.Oshurkov (Municipal Clinical Hospital #40, Yekaterinburg). He will have a possibility of 1-month internship in the N.V.Sklifosovsky Reseach Institute of First Aid (Moscow);
  • The 2nd place: Olga O.Kochetkova (N.V.Sklifosovsky Reseach Institute of First Aid, Moscow) will stay for a 1-month internship in the Federal Neurosurgical Center, Novosibirsk;
  • The 3rd place: Anton N.Konovalov (The Academician N.N.Burdenko Research Neurosurgical Institute, Moscow) was awarded with a valuable prize.

Siberian Neurosurgical Congress was accredited by the Ministry of Public Health of Russia and participants of the event will get 8 credits. To obtain the credits, it’s necessary to send a query to conference@scaf-spb.ru.
