Training in Baptist Hospital of Miami (The USA)
31 March 2019

The Federal Neurosurgical Center puts emphasis on development and further training of its staff.

We hold different scientific and educational events: hands-on courses, conferences, seminars, schools and visiting missions. The program of experience exchange with colleagues in the Center and abroad is one of such areas of activities.

In February a neurosurgeon of the functional division of our Center, Vidjay M.Dzhafarov had 3-weeks’ training in Baptist Hospital of Miami (Florida, USA).

Baptist Hospital of Miami is one of the largest multi-functional medical centers in the Southern Florida where the specialists offer both elective and urgent medical services. In-patient clinic comes with advanced technologies allowing offering help on the highest level. This clinic attracts attention of many foreign doctors of various specialties. The doctors from the Netherlands, Spain and many other countries had visited this clinic.

Neurosurgical team of the hospital is presented by 4 surgeons performing practically all types of surgical procedures. The supervisor of Dr.Dzhafarov during his 3-weeks’ training was Dr.Vitaly Siomin.

Dr.Dzhafarov had a chance to participate in surgical cases study during weekly case conferences on neuro-oncology and epilepsy. During outpatient practice covering a wide range of diseases, very unusual and even occasional cases with all aspects of differential diagnostics were reviewed.

Modern surgical procedures on brain vessels, mass lesions, and epilepsy were brilliantly performed by Dr.Siomin. The possibilities of application of intraoperational MRI, gamma-knife, proton therapy in management of neuro-oncological diseases were reviewed.

The symbol of the hospital is a pineapple which is the symbol of hospitality and friendship. This can be noticed not only among the staff of the clinic but also from patients.

Such experience and set in friendship between the Federal Neurosurgical Center and Baptist Hospital will allow joint evolution and moving to a new level of neurosurgery.
