Participation in the VIIth Congress of the Interregional Association of Vertebrologists.

On May 27-28, the VIIth Congress of the Interregional Association of Vertebrologists with the educational course SRS Worldwide Course – 2016 was held in Moscow. The Congress was held with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Central research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics of N.N. Priorov, and the Association of traumatologists-orthopedists of Russia. The main theme of Convention was "Complications of surgical treatment of spinal diseases. 

Main reports and clinical cases presented were devoted to:
• neurological and orthopedic complications in spine surgery; 
• early and late postoperational complications (pulmonary, urological, gastrointestinal, infection, blood loss, coagulopathy, thrombosis, thromboembolism, late pain syndrome, and others);  
• complications during various types of operations (halo traction, ostomy, ventral access to vertebral column, transpedicular fixation, spinal fusion, PLIF, TLIF, ALIF, XLIF); 
• complications in surgery of the different types of scoliosis, treatment characteristics of children’s spinal deformity; • the role of modern equipment in reducing postoperative complications, etc. 

The event was attended by the leading experts in spinal surgery from Russia, CIS countries, Europe and USA, representatives of state health authorities and the heads of medical institutions, employees of research institutes and medical universities, practitioners. The Congress brought together 620 participants from Russia, CIS and foreign countries – a record figure in the history of the annual meetings of the Interregional Association of vertebrologists. Reports were made by the staff of spinal neuro-surgery department of the Federal Neurosurgical Center of Novosibirsk. The speakers were Vladimir Sergeevich Klimov, Alexey Vladimirovich Evsyukov, and Ivan Igorevich Vasilenko. 

According to participants, the Congress was interesting and useful. All noted the high level of the conference, which allowed to unite vertebrologists and neuro-surgeons from different regions of Russia and abroad. Lectures given by leading experts were devoted to actual problems of spinal surgery and presented cases demonstrated various surgical interventions of high level carried out in medical institutions of Russia. 

On June 24-25 there will be a webcast of the VIth Congress of the Interregional Association of vertebrologists at the private portal of traumatologists and orthopedists Calcaneus.ru 

The VIIIth Congress of the Interregional Association of Vertebrologists will take place in Irkutsk with the support of the Scientific Center of Surgery and Traumatology.
