The Congress of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS-2022)

The Congress of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS-2022)
17 January 2023

The Congress of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS-2022) was held on October 16-20, 2022 in Belgrade (Serbia).

The previous EANS Congress was held in “pre-COVID” 2019. European neurosurgeons had no possibility to gather for grand meetings for 3 years and finally, in the second half of October 2022 1 400 neurosurgeons from 83 countries met in a wonderful and warm city of Belgrade. The Congress, similar to all neurosurgical conferences, was opened so the participants’ geography was not limited only by the European countries. Here the Program of the event may be found here.

3 specialists of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) participated in this Congress. Dr.Mikhail E.Amelin and Dr.Elena A.Filimonova opened the Congress – they were the first in the list of the speakers on the first Congress session on October 16. Physician-in-Chief of our Center, Dr.Jamil A.Rzaev, presented his poster report and took part in the Global & Humanitarian Committee of EANS session.

Novak Djokovic, a special guest of the Congress, delivered a very feeling speech speaking about the ability to work, to be excited with simple things, to appreciate friendship, love, kindness and compassion.

The atmosphere of the Congress was pierced by unity that our specialty provides. Neurosurgery unites a lot of different people but there is no doubt, we have much in common. Fortunately, Russian neurosurgery is an integrated part of world neurosurgery. There were many participants from Russia of the Congress representing Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Surgut, and Novosibirsk.

Neurosurgeons are able to solve all the disputes that arise during plenary and sectional sessions, a very friendly and warm atmosphere prevailed on the sidelines of the event.
