Students’ Neurosurgical Club
Various medical educational events are being held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) since its launch. However not only outstanding events, conferences and hands-on courses are held in our Center. Doctors and residents of the Center hold meetings of special interests group: “Journal Club” literary society, students’ club, etc.
The idea of launching Students’ neurosurgical club in 2017 belonged to Anatoliy V.Bervitskiy, the 1st-year resident, and Stanislav Roschin, a student.
The Club was intended as a students’ scientific society where the young doctors could have a possibility to present their reports, discuss different neurosurgical topics.
Firstly, the Club’s meetings were held monthly. Sometime later the Club turned into a full youth branch of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons. The members of the Club started their scientific activities at the premises of the Center. Thus, in the beginning of October we hosted a resident from the “Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia”, a coordinator of the UNESCO anatomic department in Russia, Manuel De Jesús Encarnación Ramírez. On October 4, in the framework of his visit, he presented a lecture on “3D printing in neurosurgery; training models and instruments creation”. It was a very interesting and significant theme related to not only 3D-modelling of anatomic structures in the coming future. At present the capabilities of 3D-models are on a very high level allowing surgeons and residents training their manual skills in the laboratory, to create instruments for ORs.
Conferences, competitions and other events for young neurosurgeons were organized during the time of the Students’ club existence. Presently 3 members of the Club became the employees of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk), 2 more members are trained in the residency.
We always try to support the unity of neurosurgeons both of our huge country and the whole world community. Similar exchange of helpful skills positively reflects on the further activities, adding lighting into educational processes and inventive activities.
