The IIIrd Siberian Neurosurgical Congress

17 January 2023

Dear friends!

The IIIrd Siberian Neurosurgical Congress was held in Novosibirsk on July 11-16, 2022. This year the Congress was divided into practical and scientific parts.

Hands-on courses on neuromonitoring, vascular and functional neurosurgery and also the conference for bacteriologists were held at the premises of our center on July 11-13, 2022.

The First Whole-Russian Exhibition of Neurosurgical Inventions with international participation was held in the framework of the IIIrd Siberian Neurosurgical Congress. Russian and foreign innovators presented their neurosurgical elaborations: 25 patented devices, 6 methods and useful models (4 items).

6 inventive teams from Moscow, 4 teams from St.-Petersburg, 2 teams from Novosibirsk, 1 team from Makhachkala, 1 team from Kemerovo, 1 team from Nizhniy Novgorod and 1 team from Dominican Republic took part in the event.

The session part of the exhibition consisted of 11 reports.

In the inaugural lecture Oleg Y.Titov (Moscow, Burdenko’s National Medical Research Center) presented examples of different types of inventive process realization starting from the ideas generation, patenting process, production and commercialization of intellectual property objects. The scheme of “creative working groups” organization on the basis of neurosurgical center was offered. Its goal is to unite the inventors and providing them with all necessary informational and manufacturing resources.

Maksim A.Kutin (Moscow, Burdenko’s National Medical Research Center) presented the first results of 2 innovative methods of the both ventricular drainages by 1 ventricular catheters with the help of original craniometrical mapping and endoscope.

Oleg I.Sharipov (Moscow, Burdenko’s National Medical Research Center) demonstrated special features and possibilities of the transnasal approach to amygdalo-hyppocampal junction developed by him.

Manuel De Jesus Encarnacion Ramirez (Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Moscow) presented two new devices: hemostatic forceps for clean and rapid scalp retraction and also instruments for spine soft tissues retraction (LERA, by the name of the inventor’s daughter).

Ibragim P.Salamov (Makhachkala, Republic Clinical Hospital) demonstrated his elaboration – “Nose”, a training device for transnasal neurosurgical approach development. This device had greatly proved its effectiveness on international neurosurgical competitions in Tyumen and Novosibirsk.

Viktor A.Peskov (N.P.Bekhtereva’s Brain research Institute) presented his innovative phantom for accuracy estimation of frame and frameless stereotactic systems and also stereotactic robots.

Aleksey V.Kharchenko (Ya.L. Tsiv’yan Novosibirsk Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics) demonstrated unique material for dura mater plastics on the basis of Nano-cellulose synthesized by Acetobacteraceae. On the grounds of experimental data the authors showed that new material - Novochizol™ - allows effectively and safely perform dural defects plastics.

Aleksandr P.Sayfullin (Privolzhskiy Research Medical University, Nizhniy Novgorod) presented the first local magnetic monitored nails for correction of spinal deformities in children allowing significantly amending treatment tactics of small patients thanks to the system of non-invasive lengthen in the outpatient setting.

Oleg Y.Titov (Moscow, Burdenko’s National Medical Research Center) presented one of his recent elaborations – “Neurobox” composition training device allowing practicing a wide range of neurosurgical skills: discission and sutures of extra- and intracranial soft tissues, craniotomy, bone flap insertion, microsurgery in conditions of the fixed surgical field, etc.

Anton N.Konovalov (Moscow, Burdenko’s National Medical Research Center) demonstrated B-guide, the smallest device in the world for performing various stereotactic procedures including ventricular drainage, intramedullary tumors biopsy, deep electrodes implantation, etc.

Denis A.Rublev (“Skolkovo” Innovation fund, “Rubleff Technology”) presented innovative “smart” thermometer with additional functions of temperature sheet register, saturation and pulse charts in a special mobile application or medical informational system. The device allows non-invasively measuring blood temperature with more precision in comparison with traditional methods of surficial thermometry.

All the other inventions were presented on the exhibition stands.

More than 400 participants from 33 cities of Russia and 5 countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and the USA) took part in the Congress including pre- and post-meeting hands-on courses. There were 3 plenary and 16 sectional sessions, 184 reports were presented. 289 specialists participated in the scientific part of the Congress on July 14-15. Congress activities were followed by a thematic exhibition of manufacturers and distributors of medical equipment, surgical consumables, medicines and diagnostic equipment. 21 companies took part in the exhibition.

Organizing Committee thanks all the specialists and companies’ representatives for participation in the Congress!

The next, IVth Siberian Neurosurgical Congress will be held in Irkutsk in summer 2024.

See you next time!
