The XXIst Whole-Russian Academic Workshop “Polenov’s Readings”
The XXIst Whole-Russian Academic Workshop “Polenov’s Readings” was held at the premises of the Almazov’s National Medical Research Center during April 26-28, 2022. Plenary and breakout sessions on different neurosurgical disciplines were included into the program of the event.
Several specialists of The Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) participated in the event.
Dr.Yuliy E.Kubetskiy, a neurosurgeon, Head of spinal division presented his report on “The choice of surgical treatment method in degenerative-dystrophic disease of lumbar spine” where he highlighted differential approach to the choice of optimal method in a specific clinical situation with respect to sagittal balance, instability in functional spinal unit and intensity of vertebral pain syndrome.
Dr.Aleksandr B.Dmitriev, a neurosurgeon, Head of functional division of the Center delivered 2 reports:
- “Neuromodulation complications”. In this report Dr.Dmitriev presented all types of neurostimulating treatment starting from infectious complications till stimulation complications. He also gave recommendations on treatment of these complications and their prevention based on pain implantation experience in the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk);
- Review of foreign publications on hippocampus stimulation in treatment of patients with temporal epilepsy was presented in the second report on “Hippocampal stimulation after “unsuccessful” temporal lobectomy”. In-house results of patients’ treatment were presented.
Dr.Agadadash R.Kasymov, a neurosurgeon of neurooncological division of the Center delivered a report on “Surgical treatment of facial palsy after mass lesion of cerebello-pontine angle”. He highlighted the problems of facial palsy development, different methods of its surgical treatment, advantages and disadvantages of these methods, experience and outcomes in the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk).
Dr.Anton V.Kalinovsky, a neurosurgeon, head of neurooncological division of the Center, Dr.Roman V.Khalepa, a neurosurgeon, head of OR, Dr.German V.Letyagin, a neurosurgeon, MD, head of pediatric division of the Center and Dr.Elena V.Chernyakova, an epidemiologist of the Center also took part in the conference.
