One-day hands-on course dedicated to the functional anatomy of face and botulin-therapy of cranio-facial pathology was held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) on April 2, 2022. The course was held under the leadership of a neurologist of the Center, Dr.Galina Moysak and under support of “SibNeuro” Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons.
The course consisted of lectures and practice. Dr.Larisa P.Sperling (MD, the Head of the Regional Center of Extrapyramidal disorders with a room of botulin-therapy, Novosibirsk) and the doctors of the Federal Neurosurgical Center, Dr.Natalia P.Denisova, a neurosurgeon and Tamara K.Istomina, a neuro-ophthalmologist were the speakers of the course.
The questions of facial anatomy for more precise botulotoxin injections and decreasing of complications risks during injections, optimal tactics of reviewing patients with dystonia and orofacial pathology, treatment methods in cases of lagophthalmus were discussed during the course.
Clinical cases of blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm were presented; the audience discussed the tactics of their treatment, the schemes of botulotoxin doses injections individually for each patient.
