Doctors of the spinal division took part in a conference dedicated to the jubilee of the Academician Ilizarov

Doctors of the spinal division of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) participated in the conference dedicated to centenary jubilee of the Academician Ilizarov. The conference took place in the Kurgan Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics established by Gavriil Abramovich Ilizarov.

The Academician Ilizarov had formulated the idea of extrafocal osteosynthesis based on distraction-compressive principle. Thanks to his indomitable energy and will. Dr.Ilizarov managed to implement his ideas into life, to create a complex of new technologies that had been applied successfully for more than half a century all over the world. The name of Dr.Ilizarov is in one line with the names of legendary pioneers – Avicenna, Paracelsus, Larrey, Mechnikov, Demikhov, etc. We are proud that the Academician Ilizarov was our countryman and we do keep our memory of this wonderful person. His deeds still exist, develop and flourish. A strong scientific Kurgan orthopedical school is evidence to this fact.
