The visit of Professor Spallone

Professor Spallone, a well-known neurosurgeon, scientific attachee of the Italian Embassy in Russia, was a guest of our Center during June 3-10, 2021. During this week Professor shared his vast experience in various spheres of neurosurgery with the doctors of our Center. Professor Spallone knows our activities well and keeps collaboration with our specialists. Joint publications in serious foreign journals became a result of this collaboration.

 

At various times Professor Spallone was the head of the clinical neurology division of neurological center Lacio in Rome, he has been working in London (The UK), New-York (The USA), Havana (Cuba) and in Moscow in the N.N.Burdenko’sNational Medical Research Neurosurgical Center under the direction of Aleksandr N.Konovalov, the President of the Russian Association of Neurosurgeons, Vice-President of the World Federation and European Association of Neurosurgical Societies.

 

Professor Spallone is the author of more than 150 scientific articles published in the leading international journals. He was the leading speaker on more than 80 International conferences and performed about 4500 neurosurgical procedures as an operating surgeon. Vascular neurosurgery, spinal pathology and brain tumors surgery are among the main surgical and research interest of Professor Spallone.

During his visit Professor Spallone hold a workshop on scientific articles writing skills for foreign publications. It was very interesting to find out information about writing high level articles and to hear advice how to publish the articles in serious top-rated journal successfully. Professor had also presented his lecture on petroclival meningiomas removal where he reviewed anatomical characters in performing frontal petrosal approach.

The doctors of the Center had a chance to participate in joint discussions of clinical cases. Young doctors took an active part in close collaboration with Professor, visited his seminars, discussed various clinical cases and also had chance to communicate with Professor during informal meetings.

The most part of the time was dedicated to writing joint scientific articles. A scientific activity is a diligent creative process that is successfully performed only in open and friendly atmosphere. Professor Spallone has an ability to spark and to lead on with such affair. Collaboration with a well-known neurosurgeon having vast experience of not only practical but also scientific activities allows enriching one’s knowledge, growing professionally and inspiring for further difficult way.
