Results of “Brain white matter dissection” hands-on course

A “Brain white matter dissection” hands-on course was held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) on March 19-21, 2021.

The following specialists were the faculties of the course:

·         Anton V.Kalinovskiy, MD, neurosurgeon, Head of neurovascular division of the Federal Neurosurgical Center;

·         Sergey A.Goriaynov, MD, scientific researcher, neurosurgeon of the Academician N.N.Burdenko’s National Medical Research Neurosurgical Center (Moscow).

According to the existing tradition, the course was launched by the Physician-in-Chief of the Federal Neurosurgical Center, Jamil Rzaev.

The course was divided into 2 parts – theoretical and practical inseparably associated with each other. After the lecture of Dr.Goriaynov about the brain anatomical structure participants of the course started white matter dissection with releasing tracts and familiarizing anatomy of deeply placed structures in practice. Lamellar dissection was performed in accordance with the common principles.

Dr.Anton V.Kalinovskiy presented 2 reports:

·         Neurovisualization of functional areas in tumors surgery;

·         Anatomy and functions of limbic system. In this report Dr.Kalinovskiy highlighted the issues of anatomy, function, clinical evidence connected with damage of different areas of limbic system.

Doctors from Novosibirsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Kemerovo. Barnaul, Komi republic, Osh (Kyrgyzstan) were among the participants of the hands-on course.

Participants were given with Certificates.
