“Endoscopic spine surgery” Educational course

An educational course on endoscopic spine surgery was held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) with Joimax company participation on March 11-12, 2021.

 

Yuliy E.Kubetskiy, neurosurgeon, the chief of the Spinal division and Roman V.Halepa, neurosurgeon of the spinal division, the OR chief were moderators of the course.

The course lasted for 2 days including theoretical and practical parts, as well as surgeon’s show cases. The reports were presented by the speakers from Novosibirsk and Krasnodar.

Igor V.Basankin (Krasnodar) told the audience about surgical anatomy of lumbar spine, about endoscopic instruments and endoscopic surgery of wandering diskal hernia on lumbar level and about the choice of optimal approach in such cases.

 

In his report Yuliy E.Kubetskiy (Novosibirsk) explained transforaminal technique of diskal hernia excision on lumbar level.

 

Roman V.Halepa (Novosibirsk) highlighted complicated and irregular cases and complications of endoscopic surgery of lumbar spine. He also told about possibilities of roots decompression in different types of spinal stenosis.

 

Vladislav V.Kelmakov (Novosibirsk) told about special aspects of endoscopic intralaminar approach.

 

Various unusual clinical cases were presented by Boris A.Sychenkov.

Practical part of the course was directed to training of intralaminar transforaminal approach and bilateral decompression from one-side approach on models. During this section participants honed the skills on the regular endoscopic approaches to lumbar spine. This practice allows learning to identify the general anatomical structures, to learn planning the approach to different levels and spinal canal segments.

 

The colleagues from Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Gorno-Altaisk, Kurgan, Yekaterinburg and Tomsk participated in the course.

The courses alike allow acquiring new treatment methods and developing the results of degenerative back problems surgery.
