Results of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons meeting dedicated to the issues of military neurosurgery

The LXXV meeting of “SibNeuro”  Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons dedicated to the issues of military neurosurgery was held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk) on February 26, 2021.

Viktor V.Rudenko, the Head of neurosurgical division of the R.R.Vreden’s Russian Scientific and Research Institute (St.-Petersburg), MD, PhD, Lt.-Colonel of the medical service, Artyom V.Stanishevskiy, neurosurgeon of the medical group of the N.N.Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital (Moscow) and Aleksandr Y.Kravchuk, the Head of neurological division of the military hospital №425 of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry (Novosibirsk) were among the invited speakers having experience of rendering specialized medical assistance during armed conflicts.

For more than 100 years, from its launch, military neurosurgery of our country continues its development, constantly gaining and sharing experience from one generation of military neurosurgeons to another. Representatives of this group of specialists treat neurosurgical diseases of peace time as well as nervous system disorders of military times. Treatment of such traumas demands not only special diagnostic methods but also specific treatment schemes. This is what the invited speakers told the audience about.

Jamil A.Rzaev, MD, PhD, neurosurgeon, Physician-in-Chief of the Federal Neurosurgical Center of the Russian Ministry of Public Health (Novosibirsk)  and Sergey S.Rudskoy, the Head of the neurosurgical division of the military hospital №425 of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry (Novosibirsk), Lt-Colonel of the medical service were the Co-Chairmen of the meeting. Both of them are the graduates of St.-Petersburg school of neurosurgeons.


Inaugurating the event co-chairmen told the audience about an annual tradition to hold the meeting of “SibNeuro” Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons dedicated to the Day of Motherland Defenders and expressed their gratitude to the invited speakers.

Lt.-Colonel of medical service, Dr.Viktor V.Rudenko opened the meeting. In his report he provided the audience with his own scientific development studies based on the experience obtained in treatment of various patients with skull and brain traumas on the Northern Caucasus during 90-th of the XX century. The attendees of the meeting found out from the report information about the principal clinical syndromes and differentiated treatment of severe gunshot brain injuries in acute period.

The next speaker, Artyom V.Stanishevskiy continued the meeting with his report on the epidemiology and structure of brain injuries. He presented information about actual structure of brain injuries based on the analysis of free sources of world literature for the latest 20 years.

The report on positional neuropathies in the practice of neurosurgeon and neurologist was presented by Aleksandr Y.Kravchuk. He told about the structure of these traumas and about the present state of actional practice in Russia and abroad.

The meeting was held with respect to all anti-epidemic measures. There also was a live streaming.

Each report evoked vivid interest among the audience and after the lectures participants of the meeting had a discussion.
