Results of The LXIIIth meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons “SibNeuro”

The LXIIIth meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons “SibNeuro” was held on February 28 at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk). Colleagues from Moscow and Saint Petersburg took part in this event.

Anton V. Kalinovsky, PhD (Medicine), head of the oncological neurosurgical Department of the Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk), was the Chairman of the meeting.

Valentina A. Chulkova, medical psychologist, PhD (Psychology), associate professor of the department of additional professional education of the department of scientific-methodical work of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Scientific Research Oncology Institute named after N.N. Petrov” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (St. Petersburg) opened the meeting with the report on “Introduction to Oncopsychology”. In her first report Dr. Chulkova highlighted the basics of the psychologist’s work with oncological patients and the most common variants of the violation of psychological status in patients with severe tumor diseases. Then, in a report on the topic “Oncopsychology: what a doctor needs to know to work with an oncological patient,” she spoke about the primary problems of communication between a patient and an oncologist, difficulties in presenting complete information about a disease to a patient with a tumor process, and the need for adequate and complete informational support of a patient with maximum safety of psychological status to ensure full and effective treatment of the patient.

The meeting continued with a report of Dr. Mikhail S. Zinchuk, PhD (Medicine), leading research worker of the Crisis (Suicidological) Department of State Budgetary Institution of Health Scientific and Practical Psychoneurological Center named after Z.P. Solovyov Moscow City Health Department (Moscow). In his report Dr.Zinchuk presented information about rare forms of personality disorder in people with psychological dysfunction, manifested by self-harm of a non-suicidal nature.

After the meeting, a significant discussion took place, which turned out to be interesting for all participants in the meeting. At the end of the event, the chairman announced the agenda for the next LXIV meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons “SibNeuro”.
