Siberian-American Neurovascular Symposium

Siberian-American Neurovascular Symposium
20 August 2019
The IInd Siberian-American Neurovascular Symposium was held at the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center during July, 29-30.

The doctors of the neurosurgical vascular division took part in the event with reports, along with the invited lecturers, such as Amir Reza Dehdashti, neurosurgeon, Professor at the Northwell Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery hospital (New York, USA); Yuri V. Pilipenko, Ph.D., senior research assistant at the Department of Neurosurgery №3 of the N.N. Burdenko Scientific and Research Center, (Moscow) and Pavel V. Chechulov, Ph.D., the head of the neurosurgery department of the Research Institute of Emergency Medicine named after I.I. Janelidze (St. Petersburg).

The audience was from various regions of Russia: Sevastopol, Omsk, Barnaul, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, etc. Surgeon's show cases were performed within the framework of the Symposium. There was surgery on aneurysm rupture of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery, as well as on a giant aneurysm of the internal carotid artery, that required a creation of a high-flow bypass shunt.

A feature of this conference was that the surgery was shown on the screen in stereoscopic image (3D) for the first time.
Due to the high demand for the sharing experiences between our and American colleagues, we are planning to hold similar conferences permanently in the future.
