International scientific conference “Modern aspects of diagnostics, surgical and radiosurgical treatment of spinal cord and brain: multidisciplinary approach. Practice of application”.

The first scientific conference “Modern aspects of diagnostics, surgical and radiosurgical treatment of spinal cord and brain: multidisciplinary approach. Practice of application” was held on March 13, 2014 in the premises of the Federal Neurosurgical Center.

In the framework of the conference our Center hosted the guests from Turkey – highly qualified specialists from “ANADOLU” Medical Center (Istanbul, Turkey):

- specialist in the sphere of neurotraumatology and neurooncology, Associate professor of neurosurgery, Ahmet Hilmi Kaya;

- Professor, Director of Radiation Onclogy Department, Kayihan Engin;

- Professor, Director of Pathology department, Hüseyin Baloğlu.

During their visit Turkish doctors presented their best-practices of classical approach in treatment of spinal cord and brain, shared experience of Cyber-knife application in radiosurgery, highly-accurate CT and MRI, IMRT, application of neurostimulators for brain in treatment of Parkinson’s disease  as well as the most modern world achievements in diseases diagnostics.

Turkish doctors stressed the idea of multidisciplinary approach in treatment of spinal cord and brain damages, special pathological aspects of research in world medicine, achievements of modern medicine reducing trauma during surgical procedures and many other technologies.

The possibilities of radiosurgery application and peculiarities of oncological pathologies treatment with the usage of Cyber-Knife were considered in the framework of this theme. This technology gives the possibility to stop the tumor growth and kill the tumor cells without their physical elimination and chemo. The practice of combined therapy in huge tumors was presented where some parts of tumor are eliminated surgically and the rest of them are killed with the help of Cyber-knife.

Presentation of our colleagues from Turkey has attracted interest not only of the staff of the Center but also of the guests from the medical establishments of the city whose participation in the events held in the premises of the Center becomes a good tradition. Foreign colleagues highly appreciated professional level of doctors of the Center and also high-technology equipment and general organization of activities of all divisions and specialists.

This meeting was the first one in the row of international conferences and visits of specialists from different countries of the world that would be held in our Center.
