The first place on the International conference “New Trends in treatment of vascular patients”.

The XXX International conference on “New Trends in Treatment of Vascular Patients” took place in Sochi on June 25-27, 2015. Doctors from different regions of Russia and foreign colleagues participated in the conference.

Our Center was presented by cardio-vascular surgeon Vladimir E.Guzhin. In the framework of the meeting topical questions of vascular surgery were discussed. 282 oral reports and posters on various spheres of vascular surgery were presented. The theme of surgical treatment of brachiocephalic arteries’ pathology was of particular interest. The tendency of increasing the quantity of surgical procedure in stenotic damage of internal carotid arteries (ICA) in Russia was noticed. However, our country is slow in comparison with the leading European countries and the USA on quantity of surgical procedures performed: there only 8 surgical procedures for 100 000, but in the USA, for example – there 48. Methods and results of different types of surgical procedures in this pathology were discussed during the conference; effectiveness of “open” surgical procedures on ICA for the purpose of prevention of acute cerebrovascular events was noticed. During the meeting the ways of improvement of rendering medical care for patients with brachiocephalic arteries pathology were designed.

There was a competition for the best poster report. The doctors of the Center (V.E.Guzhin, A.V.dubovoy and K.S.Ovsyannikov) were awarded with the premier prize for presentation of the report under the title “Surgical treatment of ICA stenosis in combination with intracranial aneurysms”.

We are sending our congratulations to Dr.Guzhin, Dr.Dubovoy and Dr.Ovsyannikov and wish them further professional growth!
