On March 27, 2015, the regular meeting of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons was held at the Omsk Regional Hospital. More than 50 people from different parts of Siberia attended the monthly meeting of neurosurgeons and allied specialties. Neurosurgeons from Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Novokuznetsk and Omsk took an active participation in this meeting.

Co-Chairs from the host side were Kalinichev Alexey., Md., Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the Omsk State Medical Academy and Larkin Valery, MD, Head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery OSMA. Co-Chair Jamil Rzaev, head of the FCN was represented the city of Novosibirsk.

After the warm welcoming words Deputy Chief of Surgery in the Omsk Regional hospital Victor Dudarev turned to the audience. He noted the importance of such conferences, where people can discuss variety of issues using experience from different cities.

The first speaker at the meeting was the Head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery OSMA, MD, Larkin Valery. Valery has prepared a report on "Children brain tumors". The importance of this question firstly determined by high mortality from cancer, the third leading cause of death after injury and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, Valery noted that the case of children brain tumors has a number of features associated with the intensive growth of the nervous system. In case of the children inborn brain tumors, can have an extremely quick progression, but the chances for recovery for children higher than adults, since large compensating abilities of an organism.

The next speaker was neurosurgeon of Regional Hospital, MD, Shesterikov Alexander. In his report "Surgical prevention of postoperative complications in the treatment of pituitary tumors" Alexander said that this topic is relevant for today, as it is still the unresolved problem of improving surgical ways to prevent complications. Despite the great advances in modern technology, removing the tumors has complications after such operations. Doctors of the Omsk Regional Hospital, in collaboration with experts from Nizhny Novgorod, made a new polymer implant for reconstruction of bone defects of the skull base with endoscopic surgery of pituitary adenomas. In his report Alexander described in detail the workings and talked about how to apply them on practice.

Report "Differential treatment of facial pain" presented neurosurgeon of Omsk Regional Clinical Hospital Alexander Kormilets. Most part of the report, Alexander dedicated to the story of the combined treatment of facial pain. He marked out several kinds of treatments like cryosurgery, the decrease in activity of cortical areas and resection of the superficial temporal artery, X-ray therapy, physical therapy, medical treatment and prevention of chronic pain.

The first guest speaker from Novosibirsk was the Head of the department of x-ray diagnostics, MD, PhD radiologist Michael Amelin. From the first slide of his presentation Michael interested listeners with his understanding of different approaches to trigeminal neuralgia of surgeons and radiologists. The report was devoted to the view of ray diagnostician on trigeminal neuralgia.

Chief radiologist of the Omsk region Dorovskih Galina warmly commented on the report of Michael and has divided his point of view.

Listeners paid great attention to the report of the Head of Federal Center of neurosurgery Jamil Rzaev "Microvascular decompression in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia". Jamil has mentioned the success of Peter Jeanette in this area. Noting that due to him MVD has become worldwide recognized and common operation in the treatment of serious illnesses. Jamil spoke in detail about the complex of preoperative diagnosis, neuroimaging and about his experience of such operations. He noted that the success of surgical treatment primarily depends on careful preoperative planning.

Chief neurosurgeon of the Irkutsk region, the head of the Irkutsk branch of SibNeuro Alexander Semenov also has extensive experience in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. Alexander prepare a small message, in which he spoke about his experience in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia by injections of glycerol into the Gasser node Hakanson. For 4 years he made such surgeries on 90 patients that is certainly a big experience in this area. So his report could not cause a large number of questions from the audience.

By tradition, the meeting ended with a little announcement about the upcoming events of the Siberian Association of Neurosurgeons. The next meeting will be held on April 24 in the Federal Center of Neurosurgery (Novosibirsk).
